EAR AND FACE CARE SERVICE
|
Every dog owner wants to take care of the face that they know and love so much! Ear and face care dog grooming services are especially important because keeping these areas clean, dry, and free of unnecessary hair can help to ward off a number of dangerous and painful infections.
EAR CAREAs a general rule of thumb, your dog's ears should be cleaned at least once a month. In this service, your mobile dog groomer will also alert you if they detect any foul-smelling odors or abnormal redness inside the ears, as this could be a sign of infection. Dogs who have floppy ears--Spaniels, for example--are especially prone to ear infections because they do not get as much air flow inside of the ear. Moisture is more likely to get trapped in there, resulting in infection. So your mobile dog groomer will take special care with these breeds to make sure that excess water does not enter the ear during the bathing process as well. Clipping the hair around the inner ear can also help with getting extra air flow down in the ear canal, which can be a huge help to prevent infection.
FACE CAREA number of breeds have hair that grows in the corners of their eyes, which needs to be trimmed regularly so that it does not grow long enough to cause irritation. For dogs with jowls, or heavy folds of skin in the mouth area, these skin folds can become a breeding ground for bacteria. Every time your dog drools or drinks water, that moisture gets held in those skin folds. The owner should be paying special attention to these areas--even drying their mouth after they drink water when possible--to avoid any potential complications. It is best to keep the hair in those areas trimmed very close so that the hair cannot aid in the entrapment of moisture.
